Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is made by Storage North Harrow in respect of the financial year ending 31 December. It sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. Storage North Harrow is committed to conducting business ethically, with integrity, and in full compliance with applicable laws.
Our Commitment and Zero-Tolerance Policy
Storage North Harrow has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance stance towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not accept any form of forced labour, child labour, servitude, bonded labour, or any other practice that exploits individuals or undermines their fundamental human rights. This commitment applies to our own operations and to all third parties who supply goods or services to us.
All colleagues, contractors, and suppliers are expected to act consistently with our ethical standards. Any breach of our zero-tolerance policy is treated as a serious matter and may result in termination of contracts or other appropriate action.
Our Business and Supply Chain
Storage North Harrow provides storage services to individuals and businesses. While our operations are primarily based at our storage facilities, we engage with a range of suppliers and contractors for products and services such as building maintenance, security, cleaning, utilities, and equipment.
We recognise that the risk of modern slavery may be higher in certain sectors and geographies within our supply chain. We therefore remain vigilant and aim to identify and mitigate risks through proportionate and targeted actions.
Supplier Standards and Due Diligence
We expect all suppliers to operate in accordance with our values and to comply with all applicable laws relating to labour, employment, and human rights. As part of our due diligence processes, we assess new and existing suppliers on their approach to ethical conduct and labour practices.
Our supplier standards include the expectation that suppliers do not use forced, compulsory, or child labour, ensure safe and fair working conditions, provide fair wages and working hours, and prohibit discrimination, harassment, and abuse. Where appropriate, we request information and assurances from suppliers regarding their own modern slavery policies and practices.
Supplier Audits and Monitoring
Storage North Harrow undertakes proportionate monitoring of higher-risk suppliers. This may include desk-based reviews of supplier documentation, questionnaires on labour and human rights practices, and, where we consider it appropriate, on-site visits or audits conducted directly or through competent third parties.
If any concerns are identified during these audits or reviews, we will work with the supplier to develop and implement a corrective action plan with clear timelines. Where a supplier is unwilling or unable to address identified issues to our satisfaction, we reserve the right to review, suspend, or terminate the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing
We encourage all employees, contractors, suppliers, and customers to speak up if they have any concerns about potential modern slavery or human trafficking connected to Storage North Harrow or our supply chains. Concerns may relate to working conditions, recruitment practices, or any behaviour that appears coercive, exploitative, or inconsistent with our values.
Individuals can raise concerns through our internal reporting channels or directly with management at our facilities. Reports will be treated seriously, handled sensitively, and, where possible, confidentially. We will not tolerate any form of victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith.
Training and Awareness
We are committed to raising awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff. Relevant employees receive information and guidance to help them recognise indicators of modern slavery, understand our zero-tolerance approach, and know how to escalate concerns appropriately.
We keep our internal guidance under review to ensure it reflects current best practice and legal requirements, and we look for opportunities to strengthen awareness across the business.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
Storage North Harrow recognises that tackling modern slavery and human trafficking requires ongoing vigilance and continuous improvement. We regularly review our policies, procedures, and supplier management practices to enhance their effectiveness and to respond to evolving risks.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is reviewed annually by the leadership of Storage North Harrow. As part of this review, we assess the actions taken during the year, consider any incidents or concerns raised, and identify further steps to strengthen our approach. The updated statement is then approved at a senior level and made available to our stakeholders.
By maintaining a robust zero-tolerance policy, monitoring our supply chains, providing clear reporting channels, and committing to annual review, Storage North Harrow aims to play its part in preventing modern slavery and protecting the rights and dignity of all individuals connected to our business.
